Writing is an introspective hobby – I use it to collect my thoughts and gauge where I am at at any given point in time. Its been a wild few months with so much going on that I really have not been able to sit down, compose my thoughts and be able to put them down.

I think most people who know me would be aware that this has been a phenomenal year with huge learning. I had the opportunity of being part of the Bengaluru 10K Challenge which had a total turnout of over 7000 participants and then recently was the mega event Bengaluru Marathon where we had over 17000 participants.

I could write a few thousand words about each event, the build up, the planning and the execution. The people I met, those that I experienced and all that I was able to learn from them – but lets leave that for another day.

We were also able to launch the first Protons Event – Run with Scott Jurek and boy! it was a splendid experience. This was a pure knowledge sharing and feel good event. I think Scott Jurek – the person, is what took this event to the next level. The simple fact that a guy as accomplished as Scott was so simple, humble and real; absolutely blew everyone away. Simple things like the fact that he didn’t want to dine in the hotel but wanted to go to a simple south Indian restaurant and eat authentic Indian spicy food, or even learning how to eat with his hand, or ensuring he takes some Indian material back home for his wife or just getting a quick shut eye on the couch without any complaints is what made me a fan of his for life. Off course, these were little things other than the fact that he is an incredible orator and a storehouse of knowledge. He conducted a session which was all about the people attending and how they can understand technicalities of the sport of running, nutrition and so much more.

But, this aside, I have been quite happy with the progress that I have made in the last few months. I started jogging a slow 5K distance back in February 2015. Since then there were multiple efforts of increasing distance – it took me about 3 months from then to increase it to a 10K distance. I am also happy to report that over the next few months I was able to further increase the distance and clocked my longest run of 21K last weekend. I plan to use the rest of the year to clock in some base miles. At this time I do no more than 2 runs a week. I have also added regular strength training sessions to my schedule in addition to cycling and at least one swim a week. A good variety of workouts enables overall development and strengthening and the swim sessions are absolute hydrotherapy which help the muscles to relax and recuperate.

Its not always about the end-result – its about the journey and the experience. And at this time I am happy and content in knowing I am enjoying it all and am exactly where I am meant to be.
