So, there is a new logo doing the rounds and creating a huge stir. While a lot of differing opinions and explanations have been given to this logo, may I present to you the thoughts which have come together in creation of this beautiful work of art!

P and R – the off the beaten track representation of the P, which also doubles up as an R represents Protons Running. Protons, as the word suggests is all about positive energy. The vision of this group is to spread the benefits of running as we go. We want to do so in a manner that attracts people for the experience:  pre-run,  run and post-run. This is in the form of camaraderie and friendship as we support each one to become stronger: physically, mentally and spiritually; as people and runners.

The Circle represents continuity. Continuity in the effort to be awesome as we recognize that this is an on-going and never-ending process.   Salvador Dali’s words very aptly represent our belief:

“Do not fear perfection, you will never achieve it.”

We, the protons believe that this process of evolving as athletes and human beings is continual and we strive to keep developing ourselves in this manner. The three supporting bands in the circle represent the three founding members of the protons. The star represents excellence, which we believe is not an achievement but a part of our lifestyle. Be excellent in everything you do so that it becomes second nature. The color red represents freedom and boldness. It’s a fact that each individual is unique and we encourage each one to be the best version of themselves while celebrating and encouraging each one’s individuality. Finally the orange in the star represents joy, warmth and positivity which emanates from each proton.

This logo was launched via social media namely Facebook. It was great to see it go viral among the running community and to have a large chunk of runners associating with the Protons and expressing this in their own way through Facebook.

The first official outing it saw was at the SCMM where a group of 6 protons sported the logo on their t-shirts. Each one made the brand proud by achieving their Personal Best timing in their Event. (More details on the SCMM blog post). There will be an official launch of this brand in early Feb. The first event which will see the Protons in full action will be the Pinkathon – Bangalore.

Protons running are the official running partners of Pinkathon Bangalore. Pinkathon is a Milind Soman led initiative by Maximus. This is a pioneer event in India and is the second edition in Bangalore. The first edition was a roaring success with over 3500 women hitting the streets of Bangalore with a majority being first time runners. The Pinkathon is a woman’s only race with the options of 3k, 5k and 10k events. This is a run to create awareness about breast cancer, its causes  and methods of early detection for prevention of breast cancer among women. It also aims at promoting fitness as a lifestyle especially among women.

As the running partner for Pinkathon, the Protons have initiated a training programme for beginners to take part in their intended distance on race day. We have taken upon ourselves to provide RJ Lavanya (Mascot for Pinkathon Bangalore) and other first time runners with the training required to complete their first ever running race.

I would request every person reading this blog to become an ambassador for this event and make it a personal agenda to bring more people into running. Encourage the women in your life to be part of this movement and be part of this cause.

You can register for the Pinkathon at www.pinkathon.in.
